Brunswick Media owner Mike Conaty recently appeared as a guest on the Rockstar Podcast Lite with host Lorenzo Araneo of Screaming Lunatic Multimedia, LLC.
Where else on the web can you find a blog post about Ballet and Demolition Tools? Only Here.
Just a couple of Holiday plugs for Brunswick Media Services clients:
American Repertory Ballet presents Graham Lustig’s The Nutcracker
November means the holiday season kicks off, and what better way to start your celebrations than with that perennial holiday classic, The Nutcracker? If you’re in New Jersey, the only Nutcracker to see is American Repertory Ballet’s modern classic. While the performance venue list reads a bit like a Revolutionary War battle plan (Princeton, Morristown, New Brunswick, and Trenton) there’s a performance near you. Don’t just take my word for it, read The Star Ledger’s review by Robert Johnson.
… and now for something completely different…
The Gutster™ Wreck The Halls Sale
The folks at the Gutster have been hitting the “Holiday Cheer” a wee bit early this year. They’re running a recession-busting “Wreck The Halls Sale” now through the end of the year. The newest, 24″ Gutster General Purpose Bar is on sale for $45.00, there’s an unbelievable 3-pack Sale at $150.00, and FREE SHIPPING on all orders here in the lower 48!
Go there NOW, before they wise up and end the sale early, besides, nothing quite says Merry Christmas than a 3-pack of Demolition Bars. And while you’re there you can check out all of our latest Gutster videos… you’ve got to see these things in action.

So it’s 11:45pm on a Friday in June… and what are we up to? John’s in the audio studio fixing a really bad recording job by yours truly, and I’m taking a break from editing. Here’s the cool part: we’re doing this from our brand-spanking-new studio.
If you’ve been to this blog before, you may notice a distinct pause between posts from time to time, and according to the last post date, it’s been almost 3 months since anyone’s written anything here… (yeah Ashley, I neglect my blog too). So here’s the news:
We’re 5
Hard to believe, but Brunswick Media Services LLC is celebrating five years in the business of making videos. I’d love to have some pithy insight into running a small business to write about, but like most 5-year-olds, we decided to strike out and move into a new studio, which leads to news item #2:
We Moved
On May 1, 2008 we moved into our new (intergalactic) headquarters at 214 Lincoln Blvd, Middlesex, NJ 08846 (thanks for the moving help Bill). If you’re reading this, and are a client of Brunswick Media Services, don’t feel left out because you didn’t get the official “We Moved” postcard… I just (receipt time was 11:04pm) ordered them. They’ll be in the mail soon.
I suppose that’s the pithy, insightful part of this post: when it comes down to running your own business, you’ll spend a whole lot of late Friday nights getting to the stuff you need to do to run the business. And that’s pretty damn OK when it comes right down to it.
Oh, and pithy part #2: turn the gain DOWN on the wireless lav when you’re recording, it will make John’s life that much easier.
Back to the video…

One of the best things about this business is the broad range of businesses and topics you have to get to learn about during the course of any given day/week/month.
I wish I could remember who said it, it may have been Harry Beckwith, it may have been Tom Peters!, but “you never know where your clients will take you business.” Case and point(s): December 2007 – January 2008:
Organizational Performance
Altus Training Solutions
We just completed the web site for this training and organizational development firm in Camp Hill, PA. Earlier in 2007, we did the logo design for them. In the market for a little team building? Give Susan a call at Altus Training Solutions… and yes Susan, I think you have the coolest business cards in all of Camp Hill as well.
Cellos
Ashley Bathgate
OK, so this one is still technically in the works… We just launched the web site for this amazingly talented young cellist in advance of her Carnegie Hall debut in February 2008. In addition to the web work, we’ve designed the concert poster, post-cards, and are currently working on the program for the evening. Check out a few of her performance videos on her YouTube Channel.
Lavado de manos
Perhaps the most challenging (in a good way) project has been the translation of the Hartz Mountain Corporation cGMP video for the Bloomfield, NJ facility into Spanish. Since the last time I read this much Spanish was 5th period in St. Thomas Aquinas HS my Sophomore year, we were lucky to find a great partner in CTS LanguageLink. Oh, BTW… Lavado de manos = Hand Washing.
and the rest
As they say, meanwhile back in the studio…
- Currently working on the finishing touches to a promo video for a totally rad, local 80s cover band Amethyst
- Localized a few TV spots for the State Theatre in New Brunswick, NJ.
- Assorted ongoing projects with various organizations great and small…
Gotta run and do a press check, shoot a couple of scenes, debug a javascript, and whatever else comes up today.

We just finished this short viral video for our friends at The Gutster. It was truly amazing to watch these guys take down an entire house in 1 hour. I love fun projects like this.

Wow, it’s been forever since I’ve written anything in the blog. Chalk it up to being swamped with projects… a very good thing. Here’s a little of what we’ve been up to:
P&O Ports Safety Video
We finished production on a Visitor Safety Training video for P&O Ports North America. We’re very happy with the results, as I’m sure Bill and the rest of the P&O folks are. Lots of cool looking vehicles and machinery always make for good video.
Fastcorp Z-400 Video
We’re currently in the final editing stages for the Fastcorp Z-400 Setup & Operations video. We got to work with one of our favorite actresses, Brooke, and our number 1, camera 2 operator, Danielle. It’s been a heck of a technical edit, but worth it. You’ll have to buy a Z-400 to get a copy though…
The Gutster
Just wrapped on production for the new Gutster Demo-Bar promo video, and launched their new website. If you haven’t seen the Gutster in action, go there now. So far, everyone we’ve shown the Gutster to can’t help but do a Tim Allen imitation (the ape grunting part). We’re editing now, it’s so very cool to watch this thing in action. Remember the name… The Gutster!
Hartz Training Video
We’re also in post on the Hartz internal training video. Who’da thunk there was so much involved in pet products. Wanna see it? First get a job at Hartz in Bloomfield…
TAH Industries, Inc.
We also finished production on the internal safety training video for TAH Industries, Inc. in Robbinsville, NJ.
The Parker at Stonegate
This has been an interesting one. Actually, it’s sort of opened the flood gates for a new specialty for us, we’ll call it “new systems documentation.” The Parker at Stonegate is a new assisted living facility in Piscataway, NJ and we’ve been documenting “tours” of the newly installed systems for them. Things like the Fire Safety systems, the electrical systems, the plumbing systems, etc. Basically creating video manuals for future reference.
We’ve done similar projects for Emiliani Enterprises when they moved into their new facility in Union, NJ, and are currently working on another similar project for The Dome-Tech Group for a building in NYC. Again, we also got to work with our number 1, camera 2 operator, Danielle.
Aside from these, we’ve also just taped the 4th (or 5th) I’ll Have What She’s Having Dance Collective performance at Rider U. last weekend; kept up with the American Repertory Ballet website, and Latus Capital website; put the final polish on a couple of other projects (don’t worry Kathy & CC, we haven’t forgotten about you).
Yeah, we’ve been busy, but what other job can have you shooting flea collars, container ships, and vending machines in the morning, and dance performances that same night? Gotta love this crazed business.
P.S. Happy Pi Day.

We’re about to launch a new web site for the New Brunswick Cultural Center, (That’s New Brunswick, NJ for those who live in Maine, Georgia, Canada, England, and whereever else there’s a New Brunswick). NewBrunswickArts.org is about a week away from public launch, but for those 3 BrunswickMediaBlog readers out there: Here’s a Sneak Peek.
